President's Message
2018-2019 SHV President
Sandra Wipfli

    Gruezi, bonjour, salve, hello:

    Dear SHV Members,

Spring has arrived and summer is just around the corner.  Our
Annual BBQ & Picnic was another success thanks to our
membership and the Activity Committee.   Good food, fun and
games were enjoyed by all, not to mention catching up with old
friends.  Whenever I attend this event I’m reminded what an
amazing organization I am a part of.

Our Historian, Sara Martinez, is busy gathering information and
photos for the membership directory.  If you did not attend the
General Meeting, please contact Sara at sara.a.ramsey@gmail.
com with your name, date of birth (month/day), your connection
to Switzerland, when you joined SHV and anything you’d like to
share regarding hobbies, family, occupation, etc.

Mark your calendars and be sure to attend our June meeting.
Changes to our Constitution and By-Laws will be put to a vote.
This important information will be sent out to our members so
watch your email or postal mailbox.

Next up Vice President Erick Duringer is getting all us Swiss
Soccer Fans together June 23rd for a fun family night cheering on
our Sacramento Soccer Team, the Republic FC!  See the Event
and Calendar Page and give Erick a call today!  Hope to see you
    there!

And a big celebration will be Wed. August 1st when our club will
celebrate Swiss National Day, affectionately referred to as our
“First of August Celebration.”  Even though Switzerland was
founded as an independent nation in 1291, this holiday was not
an official national holiday until 1994.   SHV has celebrated this
day every year with a special event held at various locations, but
this year’s celebration will be one to remember and a must
attend by all.  Let's celebrate Switzerland's 727th year of
    independence!

So mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 1 and join me as
we celebrate under the stars at historic Sutter’s Fort.  A
wonderful dinner is planned for all to enjoy.  Special musical
guest will also be there to add to the festive evening.  Be sure to
check the Calendar/Events page of this website for more
    information.

I look forward to seeing all of you!
                                                          Sandra
